Harris Kondosphyris was born in Lesvos island in 1965 He started with film studies direction at the Hatzikou School of Athens (1984-1987) and then contioued with full studies on painting at the Athens’s School of Fine Arts (1987-1993).
He had his first personal exhibition at the Art Gallery “Desmos” (Athens, 1992). Represented from Zoumpoulakis Galleries and Technohoros in Athens , Lola Nikolaou in Thessaloniki and Braggart Gallery in Larissa.
Even from his first works he uses construction materials like cement and industrial irons proposing thus the seeing as an intermediary action. He uses with flexibility forms, color pigmentation and the texture of his materials. Quite often his works are in situ installations which redefine the surroundings. He soon integrates in his work forms and materials which show his interest for the procedures of optical cohesion and the interactive function of the works. He creates reflections and perspectives of multiple mirrored forms (esoptra), which activate the participation of the spectator in the function of the art work. He often reconstructs images and narrations which have references to a large variety of subjects, mainly of social and anthropological context. His work includes mural constructions, installations with activation of senses, paintings and sculptures.
In parallel with his visual art work he worked as a Lecturer at the Plastic Arts and Art Sciences Department of the Ioannina University (2007) and since 2010 he has been working as an Associate Professor of drawing at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Western Macedonia (Florina). His research framework defines the interactive function of art and he coordinates exhibitions of synergy and interaction.
He has presented his work in 19 personal exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at national and international level. Since 2010, his personal exhibitions activate synergies with other artists. He has, among other activities, participated at the 3rd Biennial of Young Mediterranean Artists (Bologna, Italy 1988), the 2nd Biennial of Thessaloniki (2009) while in 2004 he represented Greece at the 6th Biennial of Sao Paulo and the 2nd International Biennial of Beijing.
